Dialog launches Mobile 4G LTE

Dialog Axiata PLC has launched commercial mobile 4G LTE (FDD-LTE) making it the first in South Asia.
It is based on Frequency Division based Long Term Evolution Technology (FDD-LTE) and it is transmitting on 1800 Mhz frequency on Band 3.



Dialog last week bought 10Mhz paired spectrum (20Mhz in raw bandwidth) block in the 1800 Mhz frequency in an auction held by TRCSL for 3.2 Billion Rupees.

Dialog Mobile 4G is now available in the colombo city and customer will have to get a 4G enabled SIM in order to receive 4G signals.

Requirements:
  • A smartphone with 4G connectivity and is capable of working in 1800 Mhz Band 3
    Eg: Sony Xperia V, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S3, LG Optimus LTE, Huawei Ascend LTE P1
  • At the moment 4G SIM is available only for Postpaid customers
  • 4G enabled SIM can be purchased at the following locations;
    Dialog Future World, Modern Arcade & World Trade Centre

Dialog promises a actual speed of 10mbps to 30 mbps while theoretical maximum is at 50mbps.

Dialog’s 4G Mobile network is based on FD-LTE technology, and will deliver peak data speeds extending to over 50 Mbps on FD-LTE 1800 MHz Band 3 compatible mobile devices. The typical download speed range is 10 to 30 Mbps.

Further Dialog Mobile 4G network can be accessed by a 4G enabled dongle which can be bought for Rs.16000 from Dialog itself.

It should be Dialog also provides a Fixed 4G through its subsidiary Dialog Broadband Networks (Pvt) Ltd through TDD-LTE technology.
